The SAS² initiative involves people in many regions working in varied sectors and disciplines dedicated to a common purpose: mobilizing people and knowledge in a complex world. Founding partners are:
Academy of Development Science (ADS)
ADS is a non-governmental organization helping to solve problems faced by village communities in India. ADS has been working with Adivasi (tribal) peoples, landless workers, and small farmers in the state of Maharashtra since 1981, learning and being inspired by the rich and diverse cultures and knowledge systems of people in two districts of the state. ADS offers SAS² training, research and support to communities of practice in India.
Bolivian Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEBEM)
CEBEM was set up in 1989, as a non-profit organization focused on research and graduate training in social sciences. Its mission is to support reflection and discussion on the problems of Bolivian and Latin-American society from an interdisciplinary, comparative and international perspective. It shares findings through publications, seminars and workshops. CEBEM offers SAS² training, distance education, research, software development, and support to communities of practice in Latin America.
Development Research, Communication and Services Centre (DRCSC)
DRCSC is a non-government development organization working in 12 districts of West Bengal and other states. Its major concern is food and livelihood security of the rural poor through sustainable management of natural resources on the basis of principles and actions, that are environment friendly, economically appropriate, socially just and developed by mutual cooperation.

For more than 25 years the senior consultants of Efficience International (www.efficienceinternational.com) have worked with public and private sector organisations in North America and Europe, providing French language services in strategic planning and organizational development.

The Ginger Group Collaborative is a dynamic collaboration of professionals who share common values and are committed to collective discovery, innovation and applied learning, and fostering learning and growth within dynamic human systems.
Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD)
LI-BIRD is a non-governmental organization based in Pokhara, 200 km west of Kathmandu, Nepal. Since 1995, it has worked to create and increase sustainable management of natural resources and biodiversity in ways that improve the lives of poor and marginal peoples. LI-BIRD offers SAS² training, research and support to communities of practice in Nepal.
Policy Research for Development Alternative (UBINIG)
UBINIG began in Bangladesh in 1981 as a series of study circles on development and social change. Since 1984, as a formal non-governmental organization, it has supported the Nayakrishi Andolon, a national movement of 175,000 farmers working toward food sovereignty and biodiversity-based food systems. UBINIG also runs a feminist resource centre in the capital city and upholds the oral spiritual traditions of South Asia. UBINIG uses SAS² concept and tools to support farmer-led research.

Universidad Nacional de Agricultura (UNA)
Universidad Nacional de Agricultura (UNA) based in Catacamas, Olancho, Honduras is a national centre for research and training in agriculture, forestry and environmental studies. Faculty use SAS² concept and tools in their work with students and communities throughout the country, often in collaboration with other Honduran organizations engaged in action research programs.
